The online health community is teeming with awesome Health Activists who advocate every day for conditions that may not receive the most recognition – but affect patients and their families all the same. Let’s spend a bit of time learning about one such community today.
A small group of the cancer community is the Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) community. GIST is a type of cancer found in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which includes the esophagus, stomach, gallbladder, liver, small intestine, colon, and rectum. GIST belongs to a group of cancers called sarcomas, which occur in the tissues that support and connect the body, and is the most common sarcoma.
To learn more about GIST – we encourage you to check out GIST Information & Support and hear directly from Health Activists and healthcare practitioners.
